Menstrual poverty affects over 500 million individuals globally, limiting access to affordable menstrual products and sanitation. This suppresses girls from going to school and women working.
Menstrual poverty transcends borders from rural communities in the Global South to urban areas in developed countries including Ireland and the UK. In the Global South, the issue is often hidden due to cultural stigma, limited resources, and systemic barriers, leaving millions without safe, dignified care. In the Global south the lack of menstrual health education and often clean water affects the physical and mental health of girls. In wealthier nations, the high cost and inaccessibility of sustainable products disproportionately impact low-income women and girls.
Girls- Educational programme for students on menstrual health and informative benefits on using environmentally friendly products through Safe pads.
Give one, Gift one – A campaign that connects a girl here in Ireland with the opportunity to empower a girl in Africa to stay in school though gifting her a pack of reusable pads made from plastic fabrics lasting up to 5yrs.
